Cleaning is very important, not only because it saves you a lot of money on fuel, but also because it contributes to your safety. A clean carburetor can even prevent fire.

The ideal would be to have it checked and cleaned every six months, depending on the use. This prevents internal corrosion, dryness of the diaphragm (with can crack, causing a leakage of fuel that is capable of generating fire), dryness of the joints and several other problems.

In addition to keeping the tire rubber in contact with the ground as much as possible, the front suspension must absorb the impacts and irregularities of the tread and prevent them from reaching the driver's arms. You also need to remain flexible (do not close) during braking and sudden decelerations, when support is transferred to the front.

The headset (bearings between the front suspension and the frame) only shows wear when it is too late. The ideal is to regulate the box every 10,000 km, and the main indication of lack of adjustment (or need to change bearings) is the bike inaccurate to keep the straight path at low speed. When the system is loose (and with the inner race of the bearings already marked), the warning appears when braking, with noises like "cloc cloc" on the handlebars. If this happens, replace bearings and their tracks (a kit), otherwise the bike is "disobedient", difficult to ride. It is possible to evaluate the state of the headset with the bike on the stand, turning the handlebars. The "callus" formed is shown with the movements of the handlebars that seem to "float" in a certain position of steering, or moves with noises.

The unregulated control valves cause excessive vibration in the vehicle, in addition to engine noise and idling irregularities. Other problems that can result from the unregulated valves are the loss of power and the increase in consumption, even overheating the engine.

Valve adjustment is one of the most common maintenance of preventive and corrective overhauls.

The lifetime of the transmission depends a lot on the smoothness of riding, lubrication and quality of the components. Knowing how to use the clutch and the accelerator without jerking, they go far. However, one should not save when changing the "kit" (crown, pinion and chain) under penalty of damaging more expensive components, such as the gearbox / engine housing. If the chain escapes or breaks, it can wrap around the pinion and break other parts. Visual signs of "tired" relationship: Pinion with "round" and low teeth and crown teeth (next to the wheel) "lying". Good mechanics know when to change and it is worth checking the system when change the oil, for example.
